Investigations – Experience Counts

We have unparalleled experience of investigating workplace issues; grievances, bullying and harassment, sexual harassment in the workplace and misconduct or gross misconduct disciplinary matters. In addition, we have investigated serious customer complaints, Serious Incidents and Never Events (Health and Social Care), Whistleblowing and allegations of theft or fraud.

Our skills have also been used to undertake neutral assessments, organisation wide cultural reviews and expert reviews of complex or problematic cases already investigated.

Our service provides an impartial, transparent, thorough, proportionate and professional investigation which accords with legal requirements, organisational policy and best practice. The result will be a clearly written, quality assured report with appropriate, defensible conclusions, thereby reducing your risk of Appeals and Employment Tribunal claims.

Where cases do progress to hearings, appeals or Employment Tribunals we ensure we are available to give evidence in support of our reports and have an outstanding success rate in such cases.

Carrying Out An Investigation – Our Undertaking To You

To undertake a proper investigation, it is necessary to ensure that the timescales are realistic given the nature of the enquiry, seriousness and volume of allegations, number of witnesses and other related complexities. We will work with you at point of referral to establish an agreed terms of reference from which an appropriate timescale and cost can be arrived at.

We utilise a unique Investigation Cost Estimator developed from years of experience and analysis of hundreds of cases to ensure the most accurate estimate of cost, a detailed breakdown of which is provided to you. We are happy to consider either a daily rate or set price dependant on the circumstances. Our daily rate starts from £650 per day, dependant on the nature of the enquiry, employer sector and profile of the investigator allocated the case.

We will maintain an appropriate level of contact with you throughout the investigation to ensure you and, where appropriate, other parties are kept up to date on progress.

If you believe you require an investigation or are unsure of whether an investigation is the best approach, contact us and we would be happy to discuss your needs with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

We apply recognised investigative best practice within legislative and policy frameworks, guided by core principles – what we refer to as the golden strands of fairness, impartiality, transparency, and proportionality. We balance legal robustness with proportionality, ensuring the process is thorough and ACAS compliant without being unnecessarily formal or disruptive.

An external investigator provides independence, objectivity, and reassurance to all parties. This is particularly valuable for SMEs, charities, and public sector organisations where internal capacity, existing relationships, or perceived bias could undermine confidence in the process.

We regularly support small charities and organisations that lack the internal capacity or experience to manage complex investigations. This includes drafting Terms of Reference, advising on relevant policies, and providing practical guidance throughout the investigation process.

We bring calm, structured thinking to situations that feel overwhelming. By clarifying scope, gathering evidence fairly, and focusing on facts, we help organisations move forward confidently and reduce the risk of escalation, challenge, or reputational harm.

No. We establish findings of fact and, where agreed, conclusions on whether allegations are upheld. Decisions on outcomes or sanctions remain the responsibility of the organisation, preserving governance and accountability.

Independence, fairness, and clear communication are central to our approach. This often increases confidence in the process and reduces the risk of disengagement or challenge.
